271 days until you turn 32, on 15 June 2027.
Dates are compared as calendar dates, not timestamps, so daylight-saving changes and timezones cannot shift the result by a day.
How this is calculated
days = day2 - day1 months = month2 - month1 years = year2 - year1 if days < 0: months -= 1 days += (number of days in the month before the later date) if months < 0: years -= 1 months += 12
How it works
Age is a calendar calculation, not an arithmetic one. You cannot simply divide a number of days by 365.25 and get a correct answer, because months have different lengths and leap years break the average.
The method here subtracts day from day, month from month and year from year, then borrows where a component goes negative — exactly the way you would do long subtraction by hand. When the day count borrows, it takes the length of the month immediately before the later date, which is what makes 31 January to 28 February come out as 28 days rather than 25 or 29.
One implementation detail matters enough to state: this works on calendar dates as plain year, month and day integers, never on JavaScript timestamps. Subtracting two timestamps and dividing by 86,400,000 drifts by a day whenever a daylight-saving transition falls between them. It is the most common bug in age calculators on the web, and it is why the answer here stays correct regardless of your timezone.
Worked example
Born 15 June 1995, calculated on 3 September 2026
- days = 3 - 15 = -12
- months = 9 - 6 = 3
- years = 2026 - 1995 = 31
- days is negative, so borrow August's 31 days:
- months = 3 - 1 = 2, days = -12 + 31 = 19
31 years, 2 months, 19 days — 11,403 days in total
How to use it
- Enter your date of birth.
- Leave the second date as today for your current age, or change it to find your age on any past or future date.
- Switch to 'Between two dates' to measure the gap between any two dates rather than an age.
- The result includes the countdown to your next birthday, the day of the week you were born, and your zodiac sign.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my exact age?
Subtract your date of birth from today, component by component: day from day, month from month, year from year, borrowing where a value goes negative. This calculator does that and also shows the total in days, weeks, months, hours and minutes.
How is age calculated for someone born on 29 February?
In a leap year the birthday falls on 29 February as normal. In other years this calculator treats it as 28 February, which is the convention Indian records and most calculators follow. On 1 March the year count increments cleanly either way.
Why does another calculator give me a different number of days?
Usually because it subtracts timestamps and divides by the number of milliseconds in a day. That is off by one whenever a daylight-saving change falls in the range. This tool compares calendar dates directly, so the timezone you are in cannot affect the answer.
How many days are in a year for this calculation?
No fixed number is used. Each year is counted as the calendar defines it — 365 days, or 366 in a leap year. Averaging to 365.25 introduces errors of a day or more over long spans.
Can I find my age on a future date?
Yes. Change the second date to any future date and the calculator will tell you how old you will be on it.
How do I find the number of days between two dates?
Switch to 'Between two dates' mode and enter both. You get the calendar breakdown in years, months and days, plus the exact total in days, weeks, hours and minutes. For working days, for counting the end date as well, or for the date a number of days away, use the date calculator, which is built for spans and deadlines rather than ages.
What is a leap year?
A year divisible by 4, except century years, which must be divisible by 400. So 2024 and 2000 are leap years, but 1900 and 2100 are not. This rule is applied throughout the calculation.
